I'm in southern Howard county and I'm guessing it will be maybe another month before we see any blue quail hatched. I live about 10 miles from the top edge of the Edwards Plateau at Big Spring. I've been feeding all the birds outside my window and just this morning a male blue got busy doing the deed to a female so I'm anxious to see how long it is before little ones are running around.

I'm going to see if I can find out the time frame on that.
Interesting to me, that unike the doves, the female quail was very receptive and just sat there still till the act was done.
I've seen one mourning dove manage to get one but that female dove was sure playing hard to get. If it was people he could be going to jail.

my male pen raised birds are chasing hens and some are already laying. I figure a hatch is a month away here. I'm way south, in San Benito

South of George West they are paired up like crazy. We could really use a good rain.
