Picking the handgun calibers was easy since these 5 are the only ones I ever shoot except for .22 LR, but the rifle calibers were tough since I have at least 15 I like and shoot....

It was hard for me to not put 44 magnum on this list, but since the line ball will do all the 44 stuff on the big end and the 357 is better balanced on the small end I had to leave it off. But it could easily replace either one of those and it wouldn't break my heart

Don't really care about any other rifles, but I guess maybe a 300 win mag or something if I ever was to get into long range shooting, or maybe a six creedmoor, IDK which way I would go with that. In reality I'd probably just use a 308

I own all of the above. Of those I don't own, .28 Nosler, even though I don't have a need for it. Thank goodness somebody bought that Seekins in the classifieds. I was going to buy it on principle since it was about to be given away. Also want a 6.5 PRC or other extreme 6.5 cartridge; would love a .284 Win but it has to be a Model 70 and preferably a SA (which neuters the cartridge).

The problem I have with this "top 10" favorites is my uncompromising cheap and shallow side. There is stuff I always have and always will like and appreciate but favorites come and go as life and experiences change.

So right now the favorite handgun cartridges are 9mm and 10mm. I have owned a lot of other cartridge handguns but these 2 are where I put my money and practice. Lots of rifle cartridges have come and gone. The current favorites are the 300 Ham'r, 277 Wolverine and the 5.56 NATO.

But don't worry. I would have given you a different answer last year and most likely will have a different answer next year. Life is too short to live in a rut.

Again? I don't have five for handgun or even close to ten for rifle.
