Well, he is working on it. My 10 year old started working on pitching left handed about 2 years ago and he is almost ready to break it out in a game. The right hand video was around a year ago. He forgot to tuck his glove but otherwise had good mechanics. His left looks just as good. Has a few little things to clean before he tries but his is close. Pretty impressive for him to develop that if he wasn’t always ambidextrous. My brother was sort of ambi, but it was natural. He pitched right handed but batted lefty. Shot a bow left handed but shot a rifle right handed. As for me, having no left handed skills from birth, when the right shoulder was not ready for action after surgery, I taught myself to play tennis left handed. I sure didn’t set the world on fire, but I could at least play, and that was enough.
I always thought that if you were good at something right handed, then teaching the left side to do it should be easy. But…nope.

Looks like he's got some pop to it as well. You going to invest in a custom ambi-glove for him? Or does he stay lefty or righty for an entire inning?

He certainly looks goods throwing with either arm. I hope he sticks with it. I learned too late in life that I had left handed abilities that I wish I had created muscle memory on when I was younger.

I bat left and throw right but I can do both either way. I also use a broom and a skateboard left but write right. I would not try to pitch left in a game though.
Pass the gravy.

That's cool, to me he looks as slightly more dominant, accomplished right, any footage from behind of him throwing left handed, see the velocity as we can of him throwing right. Only been a couple of guys in MLB ever throwing both ways, the last being Venditte, 4-5 years ago. They created the rule where he had to declare batter to batter what way he'd pitch, right or lefty to prevent him from switching pitch to pitch. Guessing similar applies in the youth game?

As it often happens, a thread like this reminds me of a similar thing from my past. This time it’s “the ambidextrous Giant from Hell”, a big strong tennis player that was completely ambi. We all hated to play that guy. When he served, you had to watch close or he’d switch hands and the serve would slice in another direction.

He is still a work in progress from the left. His coach thinks in another year or two he will be as dominant. His velo isn't where his right arm is but its not far behind. His change up is better from the left and his breaking pitch has some serious drop but much slower than from the right. Yes, you have to declare batter to batter, you cannot change while in the middle of an at bat. The weird thing is, depending of the sanctioning body, you can switch sided batting in the middle of an at bat.

Awesome! there is a 13u kid around here that is ambidextrous and very good from both sides. Pretty sure he's left hand dominant but he only bats right. My son is a switch hitter and faced him in the fall, that was a fun watch

That’s impressive and congrats on him putting in the time and effort to be an ambidextrous pitcher.
