I bought an old run down house and found two old rusted .22s hidden in it. They are pretty nasty and probably out of my gunsmithing ability to restore. One is a single shot Remington target master. The other is a Winchester model 190. Wonder if I could get parts for either, or should I just trash them? The single shot needs a bolt. The Winchester needs a tube. What to do? [Linked Image]

Clean and check the bore’s first. In my opinion, if they are rusted and pitted it may not be worth the trouble.
If you want to work on them to learn, GunBroker, EBay, Gun Parts Inc, etc for parts. Lots of other places also.

There is still a lot of sellable parts on them even if the bores are bad.

Numrich sounds like a good option. I really just hate to trash them if someone could use the parts. I might just send to them and see what they offer.

I have restored dozens of old 22’s like those. Parts are typically readily available. If anything is pre WWII, don’t be fooled by the bores. They may be fouled with lead and need to be soaked in the dip.

I could use a project and wouldn't mind having a go at the Winchester. I did something similar to a Marlin 60. Where are you, and how much do you want for it?

Winchester Model 190 was my first firearm, my grandpa bought it for me as a kid. Definitely worth getting running again, classic autoloader. I bet that Remington would look good again too with some TLC and a bolt.

I'd hang em on the wall before I'd trash them, even if it was in the shed.

Y’all talked me into it. I’m going to tinker with the semiauto and see if I can get it to shooting. The single shot would look good hanging with my antique fishing poles in the office. I didn’t realize old gun parts were so available.

Winchester 190 was the first gun I had. 13th birthday (50 years ago). Dad got it at C&S Hardware.
Package deal from the factory, came with a Weaver 4X scope.
Still have it and shoot it.

Have fun fixing it up. You can find the manual on-line and print it.
