buy yourself a pair of noise cancelling, wireless earbuds with Bluetooth capability. Much like bore scopes and chronographs, the cost of these has come down to the point where I feel guys might buy them just to see how they work. The two biggest manufacturers appear to be Walker and Axil. I have a pair of Walker earbuds that I caught on sale for half-price ($150) and they have really helped me enjoy my trips to the rifle range and to use while hunting hogs. At the range, they cancel out shot noise while also allowing you to easily carry on a conversation with others. Now, I know that sounds contradictory but believe me when I say the technology is that good. And when I want to relax a little while practicing, I turn on some music or talk radio. I prefer earbuds myself because they feel less bulky than earmuffs, but I'm sure these work equally well if not better. The audio quality is excellent and you can also use them to take calls if that interests you.

Hmm. I always wondered how earbuds stay in place. Love my Walker muffs.

Some you can use with custom plugs that they mold to your ear. More money, but you can't beat that for comfort. My muffs have worked well for ages, but if I get some money burning a hole in my pocket, I may pick up some buds.

I use my AirPods that I use with my iPhone. They’re the Pros and have the soft rubber pieces. They work surprisingly well when you silence them. But the best thing is a suppressor.

I've been through this. I had some molded to my ears too. I've gone back to Walker's rechargeable muffs.

I'll add that if you're a music lover, these noise-cancelling, Bluetooth earbuds/earmuffs can add a whole new dimension to slinging lead or arrows at the range.

Going back several years I started with the first walker noise cancelling earmuffs with right and left volume knobs on them. First ones where the great big ones with the big microphones sticking out the front. I used to connect a Walkman in my pocket running the wire through my shirt to connect to it so it did not hang on stuff. The new noise cancelling Bluetooth hearing protection earbuds actually cost much less today than what those first earmuffs cost me maybe 40 years ago.

I started with a set of the Axils. I use a large foam for my left ear and a medium for my right. I have used them hunting (both deer and birds) and at the range as my set under my muffs (I always double up at the range).
I have since graduated to the Soundgear Phantoms. They are custom molded to the ear and the sound quality is unmatched, in my opinion. They are expensive, but considering I have already lost about 45% of my high frequency hearing in my left ear, it is worth it, in my opinion. Just one less semi-custom rifle in the safe.
