My MIL is from Vietnam. I've seen her on several occasions give money to homeless women. One time she passed one up and I asked why. She said look at her finger nails. They were manicured. She's a noticer.

My 1st MIL was a real piece of work. A "hyper religulous", arrogant, bitter, single, man hater. Her first and only husband passed away early into their marriage. The woman, though young, never had a date, much less a relationship with a man from then on. She never liked me. I wasn't "spiritual" enough she would say.
She loved to play Trivial Pursuit. She was smart and won most of the time we played. It came down to the two of us, with that last challenge question to go. My turn, she chose Literature as the category thinking I wasn't well read.
Her question from the card to me: What was the name of the legendary Madam that penned Penthouse Forum? My answer without hesitation and enthusiasm: Xavier Hollander!
Did I say she never liked me?
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

My MIL is a total whack job. Full on psycho. No fond stories. Only fond story i see coming is the wake.

My MIL ran prison systems kitchens for years. She was known as the dragon lady She was direct, didn't put up with BS and never beat around the bush with anything. We had one run in and both said our peace and went on like men do. She was one special lady that I respected the hell out of...may she RIP, I miss her as much as my wife does. Her family was always first...always.

Mine was a gumar for a mobster. Gotta be some stories there. So is your wife an illegitimate child of a mob boss? You speak Italian? Holidays in Sicily?

Man. I guess I’m lucky. I have nothing but good to say about my mother in law. She has always treated me with respect. It makes my wife mad, she won’t say a cross word about me.

My MIL was easily the most kind and compassionate person I've ever met and she passed along those traits to all her daughters. Growing up in the depression, she was very frugal. I once opened her refrigerator for a glass of milk and saw the gallon jug there with "25 cents" scrawled across it. Looked like it was sold at a garage sale. I didn't have the milk that day.

Mine was a good cook. That’s it. Same here, I loved going over for dinner. She was always a pain and I kept of the opinion that it was just me that had problems with her. My father-in-law held on till both of his daughters were married, and then divorced her. I realized it wasn't just me when she got married eight more times. We started agreeing more the years before she passed, I am glad it ended that way.

Mine, may she rest in peace, was a goodun.
Early in mine and my wife's marriage she told her mom about a disagreement we were having. Sue heard all my wife had to say and said "honey, I'm sorry but he's right". Mom you're supposed to always take my side! No I'm not, not when you are wrong.
Few years later my wife was saying everything goes wrong when I'm at the fire station. Sue told her no, there's a whole lot of problems he takes care of, when he's home, that you just never hear about.
Cancer sucks! It took her from us when she was only 67 years old. She was a smart, and extremely hard working woman to the day she died. She kept her two acres landscaped like a park, with her own two hands.

My MIL (Linda) was a fine person and seemed to always see the good in people, including me. May she RIP.

When my son was three, my late wife's parents kept him for a week while we took a small vacation. They and my son spent most of the week at the golf course. When we got home we let my son hit some foam golf balls with his clubs in the living room. But, every time he would take a swing, he would say "Oh sh*t". Thinking that he picked it up from his grandfather, we were surprised to learn that my MIL was the one he had learned his new vocabulary from. She said they tried to teach him to say "Oh shoot", but he really like the other word.
