Enjoy the peace and quiet is what I’d do but to each their own, I can watch tv at home.

Been doing that for lots of years already, need some other diversions I guess....

I spend quite a bit of time at my place ( not as much as I like though, it’s my own little Walden) and it’s like a second home. It’s nice to come in, check emails and watch a little tv. Currently watching Deadwood which isn’t a family friendly show so I can stay up and catch several episodes.

We take our deer hunting seriously so we aren’t out at night shooting varmints or cruising around.

I go to the woods to be in the woods. Back at camp I do camp stuff, tv is one of those camp activities. When we have people out the tv rarely gets turned on but if it’s me or the wife we watch a few shows after dark.

I can’t see how watching tv in camp is the equivalent of staying at home and ordering pizza? I’ve spent more nights than I can remember drinking out by a campfire with friends.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Most of the men I hunt with have hunted together for quite some time and we manage for big deer. Our camp is family friendly. We have a nice pavilion where we hang out and do deer camp stuff. Open air most of the time but we can close it up if it is cold. A big smoker and a good kitchen. Dinner tables and chairs for everyone. A fire ring. A nice bar if you want to have a drink. Satellite and big screen TV. We eat good. Responsibly knock a few cold ones back after the hunting is done. Compare videos and notes of the deer (particularly ones not to shoot yet). Watch college football. After dinner sometimes we play washers where the kids are welcome to play as well. Those not playing washers sit around the camp fire. We cut the shirt tails off of any kid that misses a deer and hang it on the wall of shame in the pavilion with names and dates. Put blood war paint from their first deer under the eyes of the kids who took their first deer. The kids skin and quarter most of the deer. Just normal good clean fun deer camp fellowship with friends that doesn’t get out of hand. Everyone is there to hunt. We have a good time but everyone turns in early.

I’m getting to the point of not watching much tv regardless of where I’m at.

when alone, radio when I can pick up a station, piddle on my phone when I have reception ... we have electricity at camp and there is a TV & DVD player in the trailer but I don't think I have ever turned it on when I was out there by myself. I usually hunt till well past dark then pull SD cards, get to camp, unload stuff out of RTV, fix something to eat, scan thru the SD cards with the radio playing in the background. Try to settle to bed by 9ish, up long before shooting light and back to stand by an hour before daylight. I have to admit, the smart cell phone has changed my leisure time while out in the woods

We spend most time in the blinds and or outside. Nothing wrong about sitting around the campfire and visiting. If raining or Texas playing Oklahoma on tv will likely go in for those reasons. TV is second when at the lease.

This time of year I began to get my fawning areas ready which starts the middle of April thru August. Each year the deer will be looking forward to the extra feeding for fawns. My deer lease is year around counting deer...I loved doing this all year. I think deer hunters in general like to be engaged with your deer lease interacting with the heard. Never a dull moment on my lease.

I fish, help with maintaining the ranch, break out the metal detector, count the days till retirement (1,047 days, 18 hours, 06 minutes, 43 sec), and aggravate the wife.

I shoot quite a bit because I simply enjoy guns. However, I can sit for hours on end and just listen to the wind blow. I don't need TV or my phone to keep me entertained when I'm out there. A big plus is my phone doesn't get reception anyway.

Target practice, play bass and guitar, TV with her in evening, too much time on forums. Some bullet casting and yard work in between.

Guys obviously there is plenty to do in off season or when not at ranch or lease; I was really talking about those hours while out hunting during deer season once your morning or afternoon hunts have ended.

They didn't read your post. Common occurrence here. I actually took it further, since there's never a shortage of things to do during daylight hours.

I usually stay out all day unless it gets really windy or rain.
Last time it was blowing, I went back to the house, everyone was gone.
I sat on the recliner for "just a minute" and woke up two hours later covered in dogs.

There must be a verse in the Bible that makes getting hammered ok as long as you’re at the lease.

A Church of Christ guy told me it’s something about being 100 miles from your church.

Yes, 100 miles AND on "Vacation". If the wife doesn't drink, she's allowed an alternative sin of her choice up to and including going topless in Mexico. They are the most judgemental hypocrits of all the judgemental hypocrits.
