And I use, still, a Trac II razor. Does anyone among you guys still, or ever did, use a straight razor.
I have his straight razor and the shaving cream or shaving soap mug. Actually thought about trying it out, but then had a burst of sanity.

No but I'm still pissed that I lost a straight razor that my Great Grandfather picked up from a French battlefield in WW1. Put it on it's own little special shelf in my bedroom, but angry ex's happen. LOL.
I just started using an actual barber that cuts hair & beards, the cut takes 45 min to an hour but does a hell of a job. Uses a straight razor to clean up. I never thought I'd say this, but it's worth the money to me. Now. I go every 2 weeks.

Use one of mine every morning. I probably have 10-12 of them. Both of my grandpa's used them, my dad used one. Guess I didn't fall far from the tree,,, 603, is yours a hollow ground or a wedge?

Man now I want to quit using the throw away razors and try & shave myself with a straight razor. My youngest daughter is a knife sharpening son of a gun and she has her own strop, so I should be good.
My Dad and Grandpa both shaved with straight razors when I was little, I remember well watching them. The whole kit, mug/brush etc.
Why not...

Just don't get your trimmers mixed up. I was once with my best friend (RIP) when we got to his house after work one day, his wife was giving a buzz cut to a close friend of ours when we got there. Put down our lunch boxes and grabbed some cold beers.....my brother asks umn "Hey baby which clippers are you using right now, the big bag or the little bag under the sink?" She says "the little bag in the front".......his response "Babe, those are the ones I shave my balls with and you're rubbing them all over his head right now." His wife stopped, friend just put his chin down, closed his eyes, and said [censored] my life. I almost died laughing.

You really use a straight razor every morning? I am impressed.
Grandpa’s is hollow ground. I’ll just stay with my Trac II.

I use a safety razor but have used a disposal bladed straight razor in the past. I typically shave in the shower and don't have the patients for the straight razor.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Why not... It takes a LOT of practice to put an edge on a razor. Likewise, stropping one before each use is something to master. I am 78 years old and have used a straight razor since I was probably 17-18 years old. Longer than some barbers have. With a lot of razors, I rotate them daily. Then when the time comes, I break out my stones and hone them. I have 7 strops here and still have the first one I ever bought. If you decide to use one I would recommend a hollow ground to start with. It "talks" to you. A wedge is silent and I have seen a lot of starters cut the crap outta themselves by using a wedge. I prefer a wedge but have both. Good luck to you

Put me in NTX’s camp. I’m not retired, but I quit shaving a few years ago. Just use the beard trimmer to keep it knocked down. Never tried a straight razor.

I use disposable razors but have some electrics. Being retired, I don’t shave every day.

Skinnerback, we are gonna need straight razor reports as you venture into this new shaving adventure. Get a styptic pencil. Hope you don’t need a tourniquet.

I don't know about hollow ground or wedges, yet.

Shower, sometimes twice, and shave everyday. Too late in life to change that habit.

Years ago a straight edge razor shave was on my bucket list. Got a haircut from my barber Joe. Said Joe I always wanted to try a straight edge shave . Today is the day. He really did it up, hot towel wrap and brush on cream from the mug. Another hot towel wrap when he was done and a splash of aftershave. I have to admit it was quite a show but it is not a shave I would ever do again. Today’s safety razors are way more comfortable.

I've been wanting to make a straight razor and then give it a try.
My mom said in Barber college in the late 70's, they had to shave the shaving cream off a balloon without popping it.
