I always thought these were likely not very effective but I got one just to see. I have a single shot 20 gauge full choked gun and tried this adapter for 410 shells. It works great and patterns the same as my modified choked 410 shotguns. I know there are expensive better performing reducing tubes available but for 30 bucks I can blast some squirrels with 410’s or 20’s out of the same gun so I’m pretty happy with it.

That’s pretty cool. How difficult is it to remove the spent shell?

That’s pretty cool. How difficult is it to remove the spent shell? Very easy. They just fall out when I hold it upside down. It was a light load in a 2.5" shell so I can't say what a hotter load might need.

A 12-to-20 might be pretty handy.

I think it’s neat but lacks a purpose. With the current demand for .410 you could trade 1:2 for 20ga. It’s still damn neat.

Before I retired, I bought a box of 410 every week for several years so I have a lifetime supply of it. I just like that it’s easy on the shoulder compared to 20 gauge in a very light gun.

I have a set of these from Briley, (.410, 28 and 20), good for learning and fully exchangeable if/when a person wants to go full sized for more serious shooting.

I just ordered one, seems like it could be a good training aid for new shooters. Have them shoot a few 410 shots to build confidence. Box of 410 should last years.

I just had a thought, would this also work as no-go gauge of sorts to see if old shotguns have a 2 3/4 or a 2 1/2 inch chamber?
