Yes, another thread, but I figure if 603 can do it then I will too. I just got my renewal notice and I went from $5900/yr in 2023 to $10,500/yr in 2024. No claims, supposedly over $4k in "discounts" for multi policy, claim free, etc.. Time to go shopping

Allstate...I think they are spending a little too much on their advertising

hate to say this but my guess is that you will find all your other quotes in the same neighborhood on cost. It is not just one company doing this

The largest home & auto insurance carrier in the nation just reported a 14 billion dollar loss for 2023. This is after a 13 billion dollar loss the year prior.

There aren't any problems with our economy.

But what about all the years they made huge profits, and didn’t brag about it?

I am thinking that is why they can withstand losing 27 billion over the past two years. Don't think they will put up with it much longer. Could well get worse.

My home insurance company(Hochheim) sent me a letter that they were not renewing. My agent told me they were leaving the upper Texas panhandle. I was paying $2600 with Hochheim. AARP (The Hartford) is quoting $7300. I had to have a new roof last year due to hail. I have two different independent agents looking for a new policy for me. BOHICA!

Our ranch house is a wood framed, self build and about 950sqft. It went from $1200 a year to $3600 a year. My personal house went from $4800 to $7400. I have a good friend in insurance and he's talking about "hard market" all I hear is "collusion".

one year Exxon reported exceptional “revenue” and profit numbers. Everyone one was whining about gas pump. if you took Exxon’s profits that year and then compared to operational expenses, they could of only ran the company for 2 months without cash flow. Its always interesting how we only see certain numbers.

also interesting watching how analysts hit corps hard sometimes for having too much cash on hand. Analysts want to see re-investment in growth either organically or via acquisition.

I think our markets have gotten to growth focused and not enough safe focus. Just my opinion, I get why they are this way but just seems like Americans are headed towards the cliff jump full tilt like evil knievel.

Tyler, I have a guy up in Pottsboro with Farmers that does ours. Our Home Owners policy actually went down last year, hour auto continues to climb every 6 months, but home owners policy seems to be doing pretty good compared to the other companies. I can shoot you his info if you'd like.

Take a look at AMICA, been with them for 15 years. Yes, premiums have gone up slightly but NOT drastically. Service has been exceptional.

Yes please. Also, let me know if you have 1% deductive for wind/hail and if your roof is replacement cost or ACV (depreciation schedule)

Home insurance:
2022 $2500.
2023 $2200.
2024 $4000.

Car insurance is much worse. Five vehicles with full coverage from State Farm whom I and my wife of 27 years have had since before we were married.
2022 $3350
2024 $6200

Pass the gravy.

We are seeing people unknowingly make severe coverage restrictions as they only look to reduce costs. Reduced costs typically come with rediced coverage.

Lost a commercial account on a set of four buildings valued at $5,500,000. We had fought to retain the $2,500 per building wind & hail deductible and had succeeeded. They went another way bound coverage with a new carrier, saved about 6K and, in the process, unknowingly went with 2% wind & hail deductibles. The most they would pay in a wind/hail event ballooned from $10,000 to $110,000. I could go on, but oh well.

Moved from Allstate to USAA a while back. My current rate is just shy of $5k a year for both home and auto with 2 full-coverage vehicles.

So I am paying $10K for home and five cars that all six added together are only worth $275K. That's because my cars' values are low. Guess that means I'm an idiot for paying full coverage ... but three of them are driven by kids age 21, 19, and soon to be 16.

Pass the gravy.
