Been a while. I have been couped up for about 8 weeks. Some of you who have met me know I move in robotic or Frankenstein movements. I hope this sheds light on those movements, or lack of.
I have seen a few threads about back issues, spine surgeries etc. I am at the end of the railroad crossing. Just had my 3rd spine surgery and looks like possibly a 4th or 5th are on the horizon.
By the time I am done my spine will look like the Northern Pacific meeting the Southern Pacific RR. I have told people with back issues, I don’t have great/exceptional days. I have ok days where I crawl out of bed and I am just thankful. Only you know your body and your spine pain. Don’t take needed medical advice more so surgery to the spine lightly. You are on a time table. The brain sends every signal via the spine. From organs, muscles, eyes, bladder, bowel etc etc etc.
Not only have I lost movement and flexibility I also have a bum left leg due to foot drop from a lower disc herniation/spinal stenosis. I wear an L brace to support my foot as I walk. I have also developed a heck of an arthritic knee in the same leg due to my gait. Saw an orthopedic surgeon just prior to the last spine surgery. Not good news but let’s move on.
How severe is my spine. Every single level is herniated, bone on bone, spinal stenosis, weakened unaligned spine(scoliosis, see pic below) etc etc etc I don’t have one single level in my back/spine that is normal.
Careful with chiropractors, holistic medicine, exercises, spine injections etc. there is a time and place for everything.
At some point and time you may just need to see a surgeon. Don’t like his opinion? Get a second opinion. But don’t wind up in a wheelchair, limping, no control over bowel/bladder. Take care of yourselves. These surgeries will be career ending. I just can’t go anymore and will have to modify my daily routine for sure. Peace and I hope all is well.
