Hello, I am a younger guy looking for a hunting lease. I see very few posts offering leases on here, upon a quick google search I see plenty of websites with lease listings that are subscription based. Are any of them worth subscribing to while trying to find a hunting lease?

Most on here, including me, seem to think leasehunter.com is by far best. Personally, I haven’t paid attention to it in couple years but used to have great success on there. It will still be tough finding anything but it will give you a chance. Tell us a little about what you’re looking for and you may get a lead without an actual listing on here. Welcome to our forum. It’s a great place for a lot of info and entertainment.

I see very few posts offering leases on here, upon a quick google search I see plenty of websites with lease listings that are subscription based. Are any of them worth subscribing to while trying to find a hunting lease? IMO, no. Good leases rarely make it to any mass listing. Immerse yourself in the hunting culture. Tell everyone you meet you're a hunter looking for a place to lease. No one meets me without knowing within the first few minutes that I hunt. If it's a big part of your life, it will happen for you. If you meet someone with a lease, ask if you could visit during the off season with them and help out with some work. Good luck.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

It also will help if you state area you’re interested in and amenities desired. Such as, lots of deer, big deer, lodging or just a place to get away that has some deer etc…

Glad you asked-posted this. I was researching this very thing this weekend and had the same question.
I'm searching for season long bird leases to hunt with my dog.
dove & waterfowl
I passed on opportunity last year with a guy who was organizing a group waterfowl lease west of Houston. I wanted to circle back with him to see how it went, but I guess THF wiped clean all private messages.
Spoke another group out of Oklahoma but the travel time and cost of the membership are going to be tough to swing.

If you’re looking, the Pitchfork has lots of openings. Expensive? Yes, but it’s probably fantastic. I can’t afford it myself

I’m 24 year old active duty military guy, looking for a lease with deer and hog hunting mainly. I’d love it if there was any bird hunting (dove, duck, geese, crane etc). I’m not looking for any trophy hunts mainly just meat hunting. I’m in central Texas between San Antonio and Austin but don’t mind driving a couple hours. Hoping for something $2k-$5k, I don’t know how realistic that is though.

I got tired of leasing a long time ago and bought my own place;133 acres. The hunting isn’t all that great. But, no way I could afford the lease costs I see.

Your budget should be fine. Many are more expensive and you usually get what you pay for. Quality leases with Ttophy caliber deer can be expensive but since you are not caring about Trophy then there are places in that range. However, finding a lease of any type can be tough. Thank you for your service!!

Leases are very hard to come by, I've been searching for sometime now. We lost our lease 8 years ago. I have been tagging along the last 5 years on invites hoping to find an opening or stumbling across an opportunity. I believe I'm going door knocking very soon, going to start targeting the areas that interest me and take the advise I see the most on here, hit the feed stores. Maybe post a little flyer on their door or board. I'm not a trophy seeker, although a good-looking mature deer would be nice. I'm not a desperate hunter either, just looking to get a little meat in the freezer, would like to be able to shoot some doves, make some friends, share a few campfire stories, and enjoy the outdoors, family friendly would also be good. My target area is probably no more than 3 to 4 hours outside Northwest Houston. I'm not a rich guy and would like to spend no more than 3k and would prefer not going to East Texas.

Your budget is fine. Finding a lease with an opening is the hard part. We haven't had one in years. Same with our neighbors and other buddies. Seems only ones advertised are expensive and therefore, have openings. Good luck.

Thinking about the trade off. I bought my own place, 133 acres, about 35 years ago, and have seldom hunted anywhere else. Damn; I miss the mountains, campfires, tall tales and outright BS, different views, etc. But, being retired, I doubt that I could afford leasing, traveling, etc. Also, gotta admit, I doubt that I could physically handle the high places.
