For my 1-D-1 annual report showing " Provide supplemental supplies of food" I have free choice protein for the white tail deer.
For documentation I have photos of the protein feeder and then include a picture of receipts for the protein purchased.
I will usually just include 1 receipt that I take a picture of with my phone to provide with the annual report.
I received an email from the county asking for 6-7 receipts for the protein over the year?
I have not read any place that the state of Texas requires a specific number of receipts or even a specific quantity of protein. Does anyone know what the rules are on how much protein and how many receipts are required?

sadly, the rules are whatever your county wants for documentation. Pull your credit card to show you purchased it and use that as proof.

yep, I tend to go a bit overboard with pictures and receipts. They are likely just making sure that you don't just fill it once and be done, supplemental feed (corn, protein, etc.) should likely be supplied or provided year around (that's what I state in my plan, so I provide proof to show adding feed throughout the year).

I normally keep a running tally with the feed store and ask for the final invoice at the end of the year. I don’t recall if they have dates purchased throughout the year or if it’s the day I ask for the invoice. Haven’t been asked for anything more.

The sweet receptionist lady at Kimble CAD implied once each quarter pics of them eating protein is what they're looking for. I think even a bale of alfalfa would qualify. I don't believe corn counts. I always write on my report that more pictures and receipts are available upon request AND that they can call me to schedule an actual visit to the property. Not sure the actual appraisers are as helpful.
If you read about how the wildlife valuation started, plenty of chief appraisers fought it and outright said they wouldn't acknowledge it. Little fiefdoms.

I was asked to provide receipts in my county(Bell) when I first converted from AG to wildlife. Luckily, I purchased all my things from Tractor supply and have an account with them so I was able to login and print out all my receipts. I always send a power point full of pics of animals at the feeders every year.

In addition to your receipts. Provide pictures of animals using your feeders throughout the year and you should be good. They mainly want to see that you are not only providing supplemental feeding during hunting season.

the letter I received from the CAD had a checklist on the back that gave a way to insure you had everything needed before sending. completed, signed and dated Annual Report form PWD 888-W7000 for 2023 Receipts - sampling from expenses paid in 2023 OR detailed dated activity log Map of property - aerial map or survey showing location of activities completed in 2023 Photos - photos of activities reported as completed in 2023 ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/02/full-39202-412974-20240208_163234bcad.jpg)

It just seemed strange that my county is asking for exactly 6-7 protein receipts each year. They are essentially requiring a protein purchase every other month. Just kind of sounds like a made up rule to kick land owner off the wildlife exemption

Too many people claim Wildlife valuation and do less than the bare minimum to keep compliant. Every county is different, some want once a quarter purchases, others want monthly others are indifferent.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

yep, I just keep a zip lock bag in my center console where I put all receipts throughout the year. Fuel receipts for diesel for tractors, ethanol free gas for mowers/chain saw/etc., equipment rentals, corn, milo, mineral blocks, seeds, even batteries & timers for feeders. Makes it easier when pulling everything together in January to submit to CAD.
and I agree with the above statement, they want proof you are at least meeting the minimum for your plan
