I don’t have the biggest budget but some point this year ill buy a thermal
In the 2500-4000 price range. What are some that people recommend? I’ve been eyeing the infiray bolt and anything pulsar.
It’s going to be on a bolt rifle as well as an ar-10 . Thanks

I've had a few Pulsar thermals and loved 'em. One went bad and had to be sent in on warranty, but they treated me very fairly. I've never had an Iray product but their rep is very good also, as far as I know. On that kind of budget you should be able to pick up something very nice.

We've had quite a bit of discussion here about getting set up for night hunting, and I'd tell you there's a lot to be said for putting emphasis on a good thermal spotter. Don't spend all your money on just the scope, you'll want something to scan with or else you'll find out how cumbersome and inconvenient a weapon-mounted thermal can be for detecting incoming targets.

If you're going with a bolt action you'll want to lean hard towards a traditional daytime scope design like the Bolt, Thermion, Adder etc. It also needs to be determined exactly what base magnification will suite you best and then there is the LRF or no LRF question etc.

If you'd like to discuss the options in detail I'd suggest giving us a call. We hunt with every single optic we sell and we have reviews of most of them on The Late Night Vision Show, HansETX, Outdoor Legacy or RoweETX youtube channels we run. We're always glad to help and we'd love to have your business, feel free to give us a call one day this week.

I finally got around some thermal this season and I see what RedRiver is talking about using a spotter. You can see what's back in the woods without having to lift an often HEAVY AR-10.

Who's RedRiver?

Could be a country bar in Dallas or a girl with bad monthly timing

I’ll take the bar in Dallas

I used the AGM Rattler V2 last week on the rifle and V1 as a spotter. The removeable and rechargeable batteries of the V2 are nice, good run time. No interest in making Vids but the shot capture is really nice. Got an armadillo @ 50 and hog @ 100, saw a rabbit running about the feeder @ 100, no problem. 300 BO carbine. Note the instructions on these are NOT very good. Really frustrated trying to zero the V2, didn't seem to save the position. You have to be in a different menu to save correct numbers!! Got both of mine through outdoor legacy, fast service.
I updated the V1 after using it once, the menu stopped working but AGM noticed and fixed in next update. Their software guys need to be USERS. And test the fixes. I missed 3 hogs as I didn't know each reticle had different x,y (V1). Why? silliness!
