About a month ago, Jesse Griffiths (a fellow THF member) sent me the digital copy of his 3rd book, "The Turkey Book," to review before our podcast, that was launched today (see VIDEO section here on THF for the YouTube version).

This 368-page book includes:

A chef’s coast-to-coast journal of hunting and cooking turkey

Over 100 approachable recipes

Step-by-step instruction for plucking, skinning and butchery

More than 250 color photographs from field to table

This book is absolutely a must have for any turkey hunter, or really, anyone who enjoys hunting and wild game. Jesse's writing is incredible and the photos and wild turkey recipes are the best you will ever find, hands down!

I encourage all my fellow THF friends to go check out his website and learn more about the book.

^^^^go to the bottom of this page and scroll side to side for some amazing pics!

PS - if you aren't already a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, there is an amazing deal to get the book AND a 1 year membership. Details in the link below:

Based on the Hog book, which was very good, I can't wait for this one to come out.

What was the first one?

Man, I love that! What a cool shotgun. I plan to take a deer, or hog, with my great grandfather's 44-40 this fall. Love those classics!

Just last weekend I was hunting exotics SE of Rocksprings and the turkey were everywhere. NO one eats them there (on that ranch). I tried to explain that they can be absolutely delicious in a number of dishes, but no one was hearing it so I quit talking. It literally takes you handing someone a plate or a bowl sometimes for them to believe it.

This is great. I've always been a big fan of Mr Griffith's work and style, but haven't bought any books yet. I'm about to.....wish him the best!

Last year I shot a pretty big boar. About 170 or so. Usually I would just leave it lay but I had his book with me and decided to butcher that hog according to what he suggested. He was dead on. While the backstrap was good it was a little tough. Tenderized it came out good. Most everything else was slow cooked or ground for sausage. No bad taste.
