Hello everyone, it's great to be here. I am a Navy Disabled veteran, father, and husband who recently moved to Washington state from California with my family. I am excited to connect with other hunters and learn more about hunting and shooting techniques. I went on my first hog hunt last year in March and now I am addicted to hunting. I am hoping to find someone who can help me improve my skills and take my hunting adventures to the next level. I have also been on some bird hunts for duck and dove and love them both, but at the end of the day, I would like to move up to something like an Elk or Bear. However, this will be down the road, maybe a bucket list item. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me. I live in the DFW area but am willing to travel for the experience. Thank you for welcoming me here.

GOD Bless you and GOD bless America

welcome ta texas HF.
& salute thank you for your service.

What kind of limitations do you have ?
Thars several WMA (public hunting land) around DFW.
Hunted with several from Ft Worrth area.
Hog hunting should be going on @ several.
Again depends on your limitations.
It was $48.00 for permit. Each area has its own rules & regulations.

Best wish's.

Start with asking family, friends or church members…. You can educate yourself as much as you want and get back what you put into it. This forum is great for information from a wealth of experience. But start with the right perspective… because firearms and weapons are involved with this sport, expect strangers to be guarded or hesitant to take you out hunting with them…..

Sounds great, great advice. But the problem I personally have is:
1 not from Texas
2. People around me don't hunt
3. My church is not into hunting and the ones who say they are have really bad character, so that never happens. I've been asking for 4 years.

So I am running out of options.

Colt, it was thoughtful of you to almost talk English to the new guy.
Jasun, welcome to our forum. It’s a great place, but ALL members are not great. It’s easy for a smart guy to navigate the few bad apples. Good luck with your quest.

Join a hunting and fishing club…. Dallas Woods and Waters is a good example. When I was younger I went on a group elk hunt. I didn’t know any of the members but had success and made some new friends.

Package hunts will definitely get you in the field. You can use Google to check for hunts by game in any location. Good hunting 👍.

welcome and thanks for your service. Stick around here a while and you will get to know a bunch of people that know their stuff (and some that think they know their stuff bs) but all in all it's a good group of people that are willing to help everyone out.
