So the guy who extended Jimbo leading to a $75mm buyout gets rewarded with a bigger paycheck at a better school.

This is the genius who negotiated the deal with Jimbo. Most of us Aggies are very grateful to Ohio State for stealing him. Good riddance. Gringo Bling - What makes you think Ohio State is a better school than TAMU? Have you studied the college rankings? The Wall Street Journal ranks A&M as the 38th best college in the country.

Typical response from an aggy, find the list that best suits your agenda. WSJ rankings are not the standard for college rankings, US News & World Report is. Schools near the very top of WSJ rankings are Amherst College, Claremont McKenna, Babson College, Swarthmore College, and Lehigh....that's all I need to say about those rankings. At any rate, Bjork didn't leave College Station to teach. He left there to lead the athletic department and I don't think you can spin it in any way that A&M is better than Ohio State in athletics, esp. in football which is weighted more than any other sport.

Also, AD at A&M isn't the dream job that aggy likes to think it is. Woodward left abruptly to go to LSU and now Bjork to tOSU. They are now looking for their 5th AD since 2012. They also just hired their 3rd school president since 2021, so plenty of turnover in key leadership positions.

I don’t know all the ins and outs.
I do talk to my diehard Aggy neighbor regularly. He said the frustration is with this being the 4th or 5th AD since going to SEC. He also said there have been like 12 Presidents in that time. Said the Board of Regents get more woke by the day.
He really dislikes the guy who was once the land commissioner or railroad commissioner. Let me look him up.

When you look up what athletic departments are the biggest in NCAA, OSU regularly ranks either 1 or 2. It is a top choice place for an AD, essentially the CEO of the largest company in the country.
The word is the boosters at aggie are intolerable and run the roost, the AD is just a figurehead. The high amount of turnover suggests the word on the street is accurate.

That contract is the only way they would of got Jimbo was the offer they made. Why would you leave a program you wow a NC at to go to a Team that has had one 10 game win season Since 1998, and the kicker is they think they are playing for an NC every year…

He is the one that extended him. A&M completely overreacted and bid against themselves when the LSU job opened up. That's when they extended him. Let's also not forget that Bjork had an agreement in place and was set to announce Kentucky's Mark Stoops as the new head coach. It was the revolt from regents and big-dollar boosters told Bjork they wouldn't support the hiring of Stoops.

I hope Bjork gets OSU as many championships as he did for A&M. Considering OSU is in the hunt every year and aTm hasn't sniffed an opportunity this millennium, I think his chances of catching a few are much higher at OSU. Lets be honest, the AD is nothing more than a fund raiser and a CEO of the athletic department. The aTm athletic department is highly wrung out by delusional boosters that think they are on par with Georgia, Alabama, and OSU, but the reality is they are more like the UCLA and Oregon St of the PAC...wannabes that will rise up once a generation and be decent. Anyone that can't see jumping from aTm to OSU is a huge step up for an AD is simply beyond delusion and entering into the ignorance stage. Not only is the OSU athletic department the largest revenue generator in the nation, the athletes and teams OSU field are just better, all except the male cheerleaders...I will reserve that title for aggie.
