Interesting new product from Olympus Arms, Inc. Vulcan Rifle.

Quote from another forum.

Quote
Recoil operated rifle being manufactured in Montana
..

Not inexpensive, but has the capability to change calibers very easily and is suppose to be suppressor friendly..Recoil operated firearms usually have one flaw, they must be held firm to the shoulder to function reliably..I would love to test this rifle..

I would like to test one but the list price is prohibitive for my cash flow.

Recoilless, easy barrel changeout, suppressor friendly, break is open, half closed or closed, weighs less than 8lbs. All that sounds pretty good.

Real world accuracy would be my question but be a cool pig gun with a thermal. Video said 800 rounds of 308 suppressed without cleaning. Cannot do that with an AR.

I’d avoid until you see adequate stock and they figure out the final accurization method

I was IN last year to get one but two emails in I got the sense they’re not ready for mainstream sale and use.

Sounds like the prudent move on your part. Now if they would send you one to test for feed back that would be another thing.

I had not researched any on it just though cool concept if they could pull it off with accuracy.

I spoke with Olympus Arms today at Shot Show 2024

They’ve continued to refine the accuracy of the Vulcan and state it is in the 1.5 moa range but they’ve achieved sub moa with quality ammo and good shooting conditions.

They are looking to start producing these in larger numbers in 2024.

They MSRP is currently : $ 6795.00

Did you mean to type 1.5 MOA?

I found this article (with embedded videos) covering the Vulcan rifle. The article is dated Jan 12, 2024 and it lists the MSRP at the original (2023) price of $ 3857.

That would seem to indicate that Olympus decided to change the price the week before Shot show . . .

That is what I was thinking, not worth the squeeze IMO.

Just by sheer chance I found the perfect sidearm to be the companion to the $ 6.7k Vulcan rifle !

As a matter of coincidence the sidearm touts its recoil less operating system as truly unique.

Man this low (no) recoil tech is super pricey !!! eeks333

Yes it is expensive! I will just keep with taking the recoil.

They tout recoilless but in the videos there is a little recoil shown. For the rifle it does move his shoulder a little.

This certainly doesn't bode well for the project - their BIGGEST supporter just became their LOUDEST critic

Update 2025 - The first year the price hasn't ballooned since the rifles launch 2 years ago.

Still able to be purchased for $ 6795

They did update their website with teardown videos which are appealing in the sense of seeing how different this system is from an AR10.

Hope they can figure out the accuracy problem, although with that many moving parts, it's possible it will just keep getting worse over it's life. No free lunch.
