I bought induction a year ago. I’m happy with my decision. A pan being magnetic means it will work, but all magnetic pans are not the same. Many just have a thin piece of metal added as an afterthought to the bottom of the pan. These work, but not very well.
Do some research on pans before you spend your money on the stove. Cast iron works great. I spent a fortune on all-clad pans and couldn’t tell the difference between it and a $50 pan.

Our next top will be induction. We have electric now because induction was stupid expensive 6 years ago.
On the resale side, there is a bigger division of home buyers between electric vs induction than there is gas vs electric. I have no idea why, but I’d say 75% of the buyers I’ve worked with do not want induction. Because they don’t understand it.

I didn't know about it till I'm looking on Amazon this week and saw an induction stove, my first thought is that it was a gimmick.

I like the induction stove, that anywere on the cooktop will heat up, depending on size of the pan. This means you could put a big cast iron griddle on it and turn your the whole cooktop into a cast iron griddle, like what I do on my gas grill.

I see a lot of issues it seems with warping of Carbon Steel on induction. I use CS but have my preferred gas so I can't speak first hand. If you use CS better research.
== Edit == I saw Ox190's comment about how fast induction heats up. I bet that's the primary reason for the above mentioned warping. In some cases the bottoms flatten out when cooled.

So what did you buy? What was the final verdict?

So what did you buy? What was the final verdict? Going induction for sure, just have not picked one out yet. I need to research it, do a spreadsheet and stuff…

You will be happier with propane or gas when the power goes out…

I have had them all. Gas is still the best IMO. Induction is neat and all but still feels like you are cooking on an electric glass top.
Just something about gas I like better. Can’t say it’s logical I just like it better.

Got my eyes on 2 right now.. These 2 have the most and highest ratings. This one I like the 2 flexzone burners (15.75 in. x 7.48 in). Anything size pan you put on them, just heats the pan up, you can put 2 cast iron griddles on there full size of the burners. What I don't like is that can't put my big cast iron pans on there, too big. I can, but it literally will only heat up the part of the pan that touches the burner. I would like to find one that is just one big flex burner, I'm surprised they don't have that, or I can't find it yet. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-2250-410308-30_inch_induction_empava.jpg) Or this one, that big burder is 10 inch, the biggest I have found. My favorite cast iron pan is 11 inches inside, I guess that burner would do good with it. Would like to find a 12 inch burner.

Move to a higher price point and you'll find what you want. Induction heats really fast and the flexizones synchronized are the bomb. We remodled and put in a 36" induction top but it was significantly more expensive than those Empava. you still got to be very careful using cast iron. don't want to break that glass. And yea if the power goes out, just man up and grill.

Moved to a new house last year and it had an induction cooktop. I love it. Gets hot super fast. When we have a boil over it doesn't scorch the glass like a regular glass cooktop so it stays cleaner. Handles stay cooler than with a gas cooktop.

We do not have gas and went with induction 4 years ago. I dont cook on it, but my wife and son do and both like it. My son cooks with nothing but Lodge cast iron and says it heats perfectly, and quick. I do know that why the pan is hot as hell the cooktop is cool to the touch. We have this one- https://www.kitchenaid.com/major-ap...sensor-induction-cooktop.kcig556jbl.html

Frigidaire last January. Was $1200 ish if I remember right. The burner, for lack of a better word, being smaller than the pan is no different than any other cooktop. You just have to wait for the heat dissipate and even out. The contact area does get hot right now and will have hotspots if it doesn’t fit and you don’t wait a few minutes.

Thanks, that made me realize something, that is a 36 inch cooktop, my size is 30 inch (which I thought was the biggest), probably a reason why I have not been able to find a cooktop with burners bigger than 10 inch. I guess 36 inch is the next bigger standard size. I would have to do some remodeling to go to 36 inch. What is interesting with your info, it does not say size of burner, not even in the dimensions guide which I downloaded. I need to call some of these manufacturers, I’m sure they will educate me good on these things. What I’m trying to figure out is why some are so much more expensive than others. One thing I learned reading the reviews, when they say 10 inch burner, need to make sure the coil is 10 inch also. Some of these cheap ones, the coil is 6 inch on all of the burners, but they show some as bigger, so the coil is not as big as the round circle they show. Also I think quality of the coils, some heat up faster than others..
