If you don't like the shape, boil some water in a tea kettle or a pan with foil over it. Punch a hole in the middle of the foil with a pen or pencil. Hold the hat over it until damp and shape it like you want. Or you can take your hat to a western store and have them do it for a tip/donation.

Looks like the crown is already a Cattlemans Crease? Do what you want with the brim. Personally, I don't care for the squared off front (popular today), because it makes a hat look a snow shovel or grain scoop to me. But a little steam....and you can shape the hat however you like. I touch mine up from time to time. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-56101-410117-mayos_hat1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-56101-410118-copy.jpg)

Slightly tip the brim and pinch the crown… Yep. You could put a mule kick in the front

I’m not a fan of sharp angles and straight lines. All my hats are slightly curved, guess I’m not trendy

The new style of hat crease looks like people are wearing a taco on their head.

Whin i buy a hat, it gotta speed ta me. Like most like the narrow front. Wide in back. Usualy first thing i do. Throw in creek, water trough, Bathtub hot water. Shape it way i like. Key shape it way you like your own style. Give it carector. Then wear it till drys, keep shaping. Just my i still got cheap posts.

Flat brim hats serve a purpose, but they are not as strong as a curved one. The bill, or front of the brim, will flex a lot more on a wide flat brim than a typical curved one. I prefer a wide brim due to better protection from the sun on my ears and 18 years of working nights has made my eyes very sensitive to the sun.

Boiled up some water last night at camp and shaped her up a bit. This is my hunting hat. Cheap and 25 years old. I think it looks a little better. At least it keeps my bald head warm. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-24194-410223-img_3091.jpeg)

It was plenty cold this morning. Glad I had my newly reshaped hat on! GW said he didn’t want to spook the deer by shooting this hog. I had just loaded up some 140gr Nosler BT’s for a 7mm Mauser and wanted to see if they would pass through a big hogs head at 150 yards. It didn’t, but he didn’t go anywhere. You should have seen the look on the kids face when I shot him. I never shoot anything anymore and let the kids do all of the killing. It was comical.

Hat is too small for a man my size. Dress hat is much wider. My 15 yr old clone. I wasn’t that big when I got this hat. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/01/full-24194-410237-img_3085.png)

If you have a straw hat, practice on it. Straw for me is easier to shape. Find a shape that you like and then do your felt hat. On the straw hats, just dip them in the water trough and then shape them as they dry.
