His genius was in materials and manufacturing techniques. The gun itself is just another variant of the Browning Hi Power action. I've always viewed a Glock handgun as a bullet applicator the same way I view a staple gun as a staple applicator except the staple gun has a smoother action. Other than being completely intolerant of poor handling (my buddy recently shot himself in the leg with a G20) I've never really found fault in the function of a Glock and it is what I carry daily.
