I live in DFW, wanting to buy a lever action .357. Open to brands but hoping to find a winchester 1894.
My dad left me a ruger blackhawk- I have always wanted matching revolver and rifle in the same caliber and he decided the caliber.

Ruger is making a Marlin 1894 in 357 mag. That would be an awesome combo. Palmetto State had then in stock a couple of weeks ago but they appear to be sold out now.

Unless you want a Winchester 94 just because it is a Winchester 94, a good Marlin is a much smoother and better shooting in my opinion. I hear the Ruger Marlins are good. Previous to that look for an older "JM" Marlin (pre Remington).

1892 is a much better design, lighter, and stronger than an 1894.
I have an 1892 in .357 I would consider selling but it would have to be a package with my Blackhawk and all the reloading items.

I saw the marlin and definitely considering that. New ones good to go? do they have a good finish?

I have seen and handled 2 of the new Ruger Marlins, a 44 mag and a 30-30.
Both were exceptional in fit and finish, just beautiful, IMHO.
Haven't seen one in .357 yet but they are out there.
