I got my property tax bill yesterday and it's 2/3's less than I have been paying in the past. Is this the reduction that was passed? Has anybody else gotten their bill? I'm hesitant to call to verify. I'm old enough that mine are frozen. It sure would be nice to have them frozen at this level.

Ours went down exactly $800 for the year. Was dreading opening that letter yesterday but was pleasantly surprised. Guess I have a surplus in my tax/insurance account for next year lol.

Yes, that's what we voted in. They retroactively applied it.

Still not what I’d hope for it to go down. I just went back and looked and I’m paying almost $1300 a year in school taxes and my son doesn’t even use Sherman schools. That would be nice if I could knock that off my tax roll.

Mine went down quite a bit but it was due to the current value decrease from when the property values went way up a year and a half ago here.

Haven’t gotten our 2023 statement yet. I called last week, was told they will be going out by the end of the year.

Just paid ours based on what we agreed upon at the protest hearing, bill wasn’t changed based on the new law.

Kimble County still hasn't answered my protest I sent in June. They're trying to double the value of the little house. They did include a poorly worded note with the bills saying they'll refund if the amount is reduced in hearing...yeah, right. I'll ride out the late fees and see what happens.

Reading a book right now about Kimble County. Junction was founded by outlaws.

Mine went down about 30 percent, but this is because I protested the valuation over the summer. My bill was prepared Oct. 9 and I paid it Oct. 19th -- well before the vote on the tax cut. I wonder if this means I have a refund coming? I had assumed the reduction was not retroactive, but would take effect on the 2024 property tax bills.

I got my bill either right before or right after the vote in November, so I'm not sure if it's the "true" tax bill or not.

Doubt it. This "hard market" BS seems a lot like collusion.

Paid my taxes on my primary residence Monday morning and brought with me a little more than I had to pay last year. Was pleasantly surprised when it was several thousand less than the year before.

If you try to buy a car with cash the dealers get wierd and make you fill out paperwork for the IRS concerning a cash transaction but when you do the samething at the tax office they don't blink an eye. Why?

Property taxes bother me. Why should I have to rent back the property that I own outright from the government? Everyone receives the same services from government or has the potential to so why isn't everyone made to pay the exact same amount in taxes? A simple head tax would the most egalitarian way to collect taxes.
