Finally got all the pieces for my Savage in and assembled. So took the beast out for a test drive.
loaded some 250 Gr Sierra match.
first 5 shots @100 yds
338 Edge

My kind of round. Needs some 300’s, though.

300s are on the menu!. I really like the way the Sierras shoot. Wonder if the Bergers are worth the extra scratch?

I'm flinching from the recoil just looking at the rifle! Great setup. I pity anything that has to get hit by that pill.

I just finished a load work up on a 338 Edge. 270 grain ELD-X going 2850+ fps with like a 9 ES. I was impressed! I personally don't like anything based on the RUM cartridge, but this rifle shot nice with a big bullet going fast. What's not to like!

The load I used with those 250s was fairly pedestrian and the rifle weighs in @ 17lb . Recoil was very mild. I'm sure as I push a bit faster & heavier that will change.
Still experimenting a bit with powders. The 250s I was shooting were loaded with Stabal HD which seems a bit slow.

Using the 300 gr SMK bullets my load was 90 gr's of H1000. That my friend is a 1000 yard+ rifle. Nice setup!

I would say it depends. I would go with CE 275’s, myself, but you’re shooting an Edge and not a Terminator or Lapua AI. Stick with the SMK. They’re reliable.

I have some 285 ELDs ready, but these are made with Stabal. I wanted to see if it would work before I raid my stash of H1k
