I ended up taking that buck in 2016 as a 7.5 year old. He had a 1 4/8” g4 on his right main beam making him a 9 point. Scored 163”

I ended up taking that buck in 2016 as a 7.5 year old. He had a 1 4/8” g4 on his right main beam making him a 9 point. Scored 163”

Man there are alot of ways for a buck to get to 163" but that deer did it with incredible balance!!!! Its got mass, width, tine length, beam length, symmetry, brows........its got it all! There are plenty of bucks out there that might score better, but there aint to dang many that are the near perfect example of what a Texas Whitetail should be.

There are plenty of bucks out there that might score better, but there aint to dang many that are the near perfect example of what a Texas Whitetail should be. Those are the reasons I like it so much. JCB used a good term in “balance” and I will add well “proportioned”.

I am curious if you found either side of his sheds the year before when you let him go and we were all guessing?? He looks to me like he gained quite a bit from that year to the year you killed him in mass, some tine length, and maybe even a couple more inches of beams. I think I guessed him about 148" that year. It is easy to see he is over 160 in the pictures of your mount. Just a straight up giant of a main frame 8
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
