So I order some magazines from Grabagun and will usually be picked up the same day the label is created. Grabagun is fantastic about getting products out and without delays, but the ball was dropped on this one. Can't blame either Grabagun or carrier since I don't know who was at fault.

Anyway, 3 days after label was created, FedEx updated and said it was in Arkansas and a delivery date has not been scheduled. Ok, at least I know where it's at. I just wonder how a package starts in Texas, and is supposed to be delivered in Texas, ends up in Arkansas.

Unrelated, I also ordered a pistol. But this head scratcher belongs to the carrier. Two day firearm shipping to FFL. The 1st day goes the opposite way to FT Worth. Sits there until the evening, then goes past my FFL in Tyler and across state lines into Shreveport Louisiana. Sits in Shreveport until the next night. The morning of delivery date, it crosses back over state lines just in time for morning sort and onto delivery truck to my FFL.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have the ability to track my packages.

Yes, it's frustrating. I tracked a set of tires and wheels for my side by side from New York to Texas, to Arkansas, to Mississippi, to Arkansas, to Mississippi and finally back to Texas and delivered.

Can anybody explain this? How does it make any sense to send away then bring it back? Just curious if there is a logical explanation in logistics?

Yeah that's dumb. You would think weight would be a huge factor in shipping. It's also true the more packages you can stuff in a truck the better. But why not ditch a lot of weight when you have the chance to instead of hauling it all over the country? hammer

Without knowing the exact cities and times, it's hard to say. It could just be that there was no direct connection between the two Texas cities that would take place faster than sending to a different state and back. Kind of like an airline flight. You can take a non-stop flight that runs between Houston and Lubbock, but the catch is that it only runs on Wednesday. Or, you can take a multi-stop flight between Houston-->Chicago-->Lubbock that runs every day. If you send something on Thursday and can wait a week till the following Wednesday for it to go, that's great. However, if you are sending on Thursday and need to get it there by Monday, it will have to take a different route.

Now, if something came into Houston, was sent to Atlanta and then back to the same place in Houston, it probably got put on the wrong truck, or was bundled into the wrong container. It's always happened, but you never knew about it. Now, with bar code scanning, and up to the minute location tracking, you get to see all the in's and out's of where you packages end up.

Thanks,
Rich

The Arkansas part with FedEx is fairly easy to explain, they have a shipping hub in Texarkana Arkansas. All of my packages go to Arkansas before they come to me, even if shipped from within the state, but I'm also not far from Texarkana.

And this sums up the complexity of what we are trying to do with HB 957. You might be able to pick up in person, but if something is shipped, either B2B or B2C, how do you ensure carriers don't bring it back into the fold of interstate commerce

It's all about how they load the truck regarding an LTL shipment. If there's more product unloading at certain facilities those will go more towards the back of the truck, not the nose. Then the stops with less product usually go last. 90% of the time they mess it all up. You'd think they'd load by most efficient route but no. That's why I did FTL.

Wednesday to Monday isn’t 3 days but I guess they don’t count weekends??? Monday rolls around and no barrel, check shipping info and now scheduled for the following Monday bang It arrived yesterday via USPS. I guess UPS gave up

Had one shipped USPS back in March that went like this:

Nashville,TN
Phoenix, AZ
Little Rock, AR
Russellville, AR
Little Rock, AR
Fayetteville, AR
Russellville, AR
Little Rock, AR
Fayetteville, AR
Russellville, AR
Little Rock, AR
Fort Smith, AR
Delivered

It was to the point I just had to laugh about it. There were a handful of times it was within 15 minutes of my house during its travels.
