Heard good things about Tactacam.
Trying not to miss the rut this year.
I’ll usually get pics of doe running and then bucks 1 minute later.
Would like to have real time access to the photos.
All opinions welcome.
(I have Verizon if that matters)

Tactacam works well for me. They come with a card for both Verizon and AT&T, use the one that you have best coverage on at your lease. I recommend the one with the LED screen, I think it's the Pro.

I’d start with Tactacam. I like my Bushnells, but the pics that come through the app aren’t as good as what’s on the card.

I have three of the Bushnells. Two work. One simply won't connect. I took the advice of a few members here a couple of months ago and bought two of the Coverts to see if they were any better. They will connect flawlessly from the same place where the third Bushnell would not (two separate locations on distant leases). The pictures are a little better in my opinion and are pretty decent quality, and the monthly price is reasonable. There are lots of recommendations on the Tactacams that I have come across on the forums here. Good luck.

Thoroughly impressed with RidgeTec. Been in the field over 3 years now without issue, including the great freeze. Great app, portal, and support, and comes with both SIMs. ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50948849483_9d22ff0917_c.jpg)

Define best...........best picture, best app, best price, most reliable, etc?
If you want one you can set and forget it, the RidgeTec 1000% has been the most reliable for me. We put external 12V batteries with a solar panel. We've had one running 3-4 years we haven't touched.

Used covert wireless for 8 years and wouldn’t buy anything else. Easy app, good data plans and extremely good customer service should you need it. Yes they cost a little more but the pics are great, the cameras super reliable and I leave my cameras out year round.

After 5 months of emails back and forth; Tactacam has agreed to service my camera that worked for less than a week after purchase. I have to pay $21 for them to look at it. Spypoint was a crap product but had great customer service and sent me two replacement devices at no cost to me and without me sending them my unit first.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I used Tacticam last year and it worked great.....won't work now in the same spots I had it on last year now. Will not connect....it did connect at home when I brought back last weekend, thought I had it corrected but then this past weekend still won't work at the lease.
Frustrating!

Frustrating! I have used them for a number of years. You got two choices. But both of them you are going to need to contact them and ask them to call you. Then if you can get your cell phone to work at the lease. Call them when you are there and they might be able to fix it. If not bring it home and when you get service call them and try to fix the problem then. Now twice this has worked for me on two different cameras and I told them no freaking way was that going to help. They said, "take out the simcard and wipe any dust off of it and try to blow out the hole it goes into. How stupid, I thought, but it worked. Another time they did a software update in the field for me. There customer service has always been great. I now run 4 of their cameras on my place. Got this photo a few months ago of dove, deer, and quail. I didn't even know we had quail.

I'm in the market and found this thread. Ridgetec is out of stock pending the new models.
I can't get the Covert website to even load, not sure what that says about their product.
Any other suggestions? thanks.

I’m happy with the Tactacam Reveal SK cameras. A couple of years now and no problems. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/11/full-37680-406862-img_1035.jpeg) It’s amazing the number of nice bucks you didn’t know you had around.

If you’re asking about Tactacam battery life, I have two units and both have the solar charger. One needs supplemental charging about every 6 months due to being not quite in the perfect spot for sunlight. Nothing much changed after the update.

Awesome, I was not looking forward to adding another app on my phone.

I'm looking for something that will let me know when hogs are in the bottom so I can run down and shoot one.

I don't know about best but I've got 8 Tactacams at my lease and have had no issues. I recommend adding solar panel especially if you want to set it at timely and have pics sent as soon as they are taken.

I searched for a good reliable trailcam years ago. It seems I tried every brand Academy had at the time. I finally broke down and bought a Reconyx. The one thing I noticed was I quit having to buy trail cams every year. I have used Reconyx since and when I went cellular it wasn't really a question as to which one I was buying. Man if you want to buy and forget about it, then consider one. I bought the solar backup from Reconyx as well and haven't had to open the case in over 2 years. With a 32gb card I can keep 3 years of data. I just go in and purge +3year old data and I am good to go for another year. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/12/full-7194-407527-img_2055.jpg)

I won't try to say they are the best because they are all I have owned in the last 10 years, but I am pretty happy with my Spypoints once I figured out the tricks. Yes, they have false triggers, and they don't always behave like they are supposed to, but for $120 A PAIR they are solid. Plus, for $100 a year I get 250 photos per month/per camera which does me just fine, and a set of 8 x AA batteries will last me a year. I am POSITIVE there are much better cameras to be had, but bang for the buck, I don't think you can beat these!

Ridgetec misses pictures all the time, we have all had a problem with this at the ranch. To the point a shooter buck would be at the feeder in caamera range, walk past tye camera from a few feet and be in range for 15 minutes and never took a picture. Txshntr and Judd has had the same experience. Send Judd a PM if he does not come on here as he has tried 4 companies to this point.
