If I had not read the article yesterday about renaming 80 birds; I wouldn’t have believed it. I actually thought it was a joke. “ The group said it is taking on the effort to “address past wrongs” in the naming process – for example, excluding Black and Indigenous people when naming birds or honoring historical figures linked to slavery and racism. ”
What in the world is going on? Just Google the article on Texas birds. So I’m thinking “Red Headed Woodpecker” needs to be on the list! I’m thinking this could expand to like a “Praying Mantis” … pretty offensive to atheists.

It’s not just Texas but it is silly. This is being done by the AOU (American Ornithological Union) which is a national board.

There are actually human beings in this world that this is vitally important to. Pay no attention to things like genocide, terrorism, sanctioned mutilation of children...a dying republic.
