When you are deer hunting and hogs show up, do you start blasting away at the hogs once they are dining? Do you try to kill as many as possible or do you try to kill the biggest sows in the group? Just wondering, as I can usually just kill one before they pack up and leave in a hurry. If you kill the mother pig, do the babies hang around for a while? Had 16 babies and 7 adult pigs show up one afternoon and felt pretty worthless just killing one adult sow while the other 22 of her kinfolk ran off. One shot, 1 pig and 22 returning lettermen to come back and eat corn and run the deer off. It seems that I am danged if I do and danged if I don't. We have had a few pigs for years, but the numbers are making it hard to deer hunt.

Kill as many as possible as quickly as possible.
You may want to consider fencing around your feeders to help keep them away.

You said corn; put a large pen around your feeder and your pig problem is mostly over. Been there, done that. Drove me crazy. On a big field, that’s another problem. You have to trap large quantities of them out. A single shot or even downing several will not stop them.

You need a pen. Shooting one or two hogs at a feeder every now and then, is not going to solve your problem.

Build a huge pen if possible, keep all that corn inside the fence to help better with them to pack their [censored] and leave.

Pen and suppressor. I can only begin to tell you how many times I've shot multiple animals due to (IMO) having a suppressed rifle. There's a fourth in the brush to go with these three:

I’ve never passed a hog, the day I feel like I should I will quit hunting. I also don’t hunt with people who pass hogs or allow people to hunt with me who would pass a hog.

If they are running off the deer they get smoked. If they come out and the deer are not bothered I'll give them a pass, especially if I'm axis hinting.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

What said above about the feeder pin.
I've only not shot pigs twice, and both times it was a boar passing through that didn't stop to eat. Once was youth weekend a few weeks ago when were hunting a large 11 point we've seeing on game camera and I didn't want to spook any chance with him. But I've shot pigs many times (always suppressed) and drug them off and kept deer hunting. I've had deer show up minutes after killing pigs and dragging them off. Pigs will run the deer off, so I always shoot them if at the feeder, especially in a large group.
If the sow you shoot has small piglets, sometimes they will hang around. (We've even caught them afterwards). I've lined up pigs and shot 2 with one shot. But once you shoot one in a large group, it's kind of a free for all for shooting. I can usually get 2 from a group of pigs before they run off, sometimes more if there's open area.

If I'm at my dedicated whitetail set up, and I'm still after a great buck, I pass on hogs. It's rare, since I have a very large pen around my feeder and hogs don't hang out there. This season, I passed on the same hog 3-4 times. He's likley the biggest I've ever seen. He was a long way out there, but I could have shot him at 400 or so yards a few times. I love shooting pigs, no secret. When I'm after a good buck I do everything I can to swing the odds in my favor.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

He's not bothering anything at all. I didn't shoot the hog for the same reason I don't drive to my stand. Now that I'm done deer hunting this spot I'll drag my feeder to the edge of my pen, feed him for a few weeks and likely kill him. He's a beast.

If your only getting 1 pig a sitting try lining them up and you might get lucky and get 2.

We hunt pigs hard before deer season and it generally turns them nocturnal and they only feed at night so it doesn’t mess up deer hunting, if one comes out during daylight they get shot immediately.
