I'd be kicking yourself too, lol. Great Young County buck and love the mass and the unique character. I vote 5 1/2 yrs on that one. Good Luck! Make sure he only gets the one free pass : )

I would rather overthink and have the rest of the season ahead of me than to make a snap decision and be done for the rest of the season. I guess it depends on how many deer you can take.

Best advice I ever got: “never pass on a deer that you’d be happy to shoot the last day of the season”

Someone mentioned it earlier, depends on the deer and your neighbors.

I know my neighbor will shoot it if I don’t (east Texas)

So when I see a good one, I’m taking the shot every time.

Also in the >=5 yr old camp on that one, good luck brother!!

For once, this is not something unique to east Texas. rifle Especially with my "strictly bow hunting" neighbor that I hear rifle shots from all the time.

But if you shoot it, then YOU become THAT neighbor. It's a catch -22

I would take the bird in hand aspect. But I like seeing big bucks so I have let 11 pointers go.

Good luck. That looks like a shooter to me. Cool deer; hope he shows up for you again.

Personally I'd have taken him, but he'd be among the larger bucks I've shot, so I think that's the main issue: Where it would land in your pantheon of wall mounts.
