I bought a bag of IMI military bullets a few years ago. Never could get them to group consistently, no matter what combination of powder and COL I tried. Yesterday was rainy and nasty, and I was bored, so I broke out these bullets and my trusty digital scale. Much to my surprise, the weights varied greatly: 55.0 to 57 grains within a 50 bullet random grab out of the bag. I was surprised because I expected tighter tolerances from IMI products. Don't know if, at 150 yards, such variances will make a difference, but I went ahead and sorted about 30 of them out, picking just the ones that were 55.0 grains, give or take 1 tenth of a grain. So from 54.9 to 55.1, I put them aside and will try reloading them and see if there's any noticeable difference in accuracy, velocity, or ES. What think you reloaders?

I really like IMI 62 and 77 grain with great accuracy in 62 and outstanding accuracy in 77, but their 55 grain does not shoot well for me at all. The variation you see may explain that for me, they must be more slack with their 55 grain standards. Very curious about the results of your experiment.
