I’m looking for a good muzzle break for a 7mm mag, which from what I have read I can use a .30 cal brake. It will be going in a Bergara Ridge. Not so much looking for the recoil reduction, but mainly interested in the muzzle jump… wanna find something that will keep me pretty close to target after shot.

419 hellfire match. It’s designed to reduce or eliminate muzzle rise. After having the others I can say it’s significantly better than the original hellfire and sidewinder. I don’t know how that compares to other manufacturers but 419 is typically top of the line on products.

You may not have wanted it but you will certainly appreciate the recoil reduction.

If self-timing is acceptable another to check out is https://www.americanprecisionarms.com/collections/gen-3-muzzle-brakes.

* I saw a comparison of this brake against ...mmm... 419's Hellfire I think. Whichever 419 brake it was it didn't have top ports like the APA I linked above and the performance was basically the same I believe. Youtube. <shrugs>

Any good brake that vents the gases to the sides, and has holes on top will provide what you are looking for. I'm a big fan of the APA Bastard brakes. There are multiple good brakes to be found.

Another thing, if you are set up on the rifle correctly with natural point of aim, the rifle positioned properly in your shoulder, with firm cheek pressure on the stock and your bottom 3 fingers pulling the stock into your shoulder, this will help reduce muzzle jump.

X's 2 on APA brakes, i have six. A few years ago i built a 7 mag for LR stuff, 26" barrel, put an APA Fat Bastard on it, feels about like shooting my 204.
The Fat Bastard is overkill for a 7 mag though. Most of the braking is done in the first set of side ports nearest the barrel, some in the next set, very little
on the remaining 2 sets. Does look good on it though.

I used a Shrewd that I opened up for 7mm. Here's a video of my buddy trying mine for the first time. The other ones mentioned are more effective, but at a fraction of the price, the Shrewd isn't bad..

I noticed the bit about form also. Corrected some things I was probably doing wrong and seems muzzle jump is reduced.

Is there any chance you will ever buy a suppressor? Would make sense to go ahead and buy a muzzle brake that the suppressor could be threaded on.
