I originally was going to hunt a River bottom with lots of snakes, so I got some thick rubber snake boots. They have been good, pretty comfy with extra socks, but super heavy. Usually start having hamstring cramps by the end of the day due to lifting legs up stepping over stuff. I current use the Dryshod viper stop boots.. Have changed to hunting national forests. Have come across a few cotton mouths by not a lot of snakes. Should I just suck it up and continue with the snake boots, or would you recommend something else? Just scared of stepping on something venomous. I I plan on long walks in the forest, deep in if needed, and something somewhat rigid for climbing sticks and tree saddle hunting.

Most that wear snake boots will never have an encounter. I know it happens and I’ve hunted all over the state for 30 years and only stepped on one snake, a rat snake lol

I wear muck boots or my regular Asolo hiking boots if it has been dry or I know I am going several miles. Muck boots are a little heavy and hot but I don't worry about low or muddy spots and blood washes off easy. I don't worry about snakes which I may regret at some point, but in 45 years outside in the woods and waters in one form or fashion I have never stepped on a snake. That includes some years stationed in Louisiana, saw many but never stepped on one.

I wear Rocky Men's ProLight Hunting Waterproof Snake Boots as we hunt a river bottom. I wear them more for briars than snakes and for the flooded sloughs I have to go thru. I can walk in them all day and still feel pretty good. This is the second pair for me, the first pair lasted over 20 years.

I wear a variety of boots depending upon the temperature and moisture...but use brush guard jeans as protection against snakes. I know they are not "snakeproof" but I can't imagine standing around long enough for a snake to chew through the heavy fabric and it doesn't provide any negative impact for wearing all day and walking as far as I ever need to go.
