He got his first pair of waders this year so we are out for opening morning. Mom has been freaked out for two days about him riding in the new boat in the dark and me driving. So I picked a spot close to the ramp and we are all setup ready for sunrise.

Just need them to show now Walter!!

From scouting we should be in a decent spots. There were ducks here the other day. I can hear them on the other side of the island though. 😂

This is the first time he has actually hunted with a gun so we will see what happens. Hopefully I can get them to land on the water and let him learn the art of water swatting.

Yeah buddy; congratulations to the little dude. My first waterfowl hunt just sticks in my mind above all others; doves; upland birds; and big game. That hunt for me stood out because I had bought my own Scotch Duck Call (shaker); it was early morning waiting for draw to be conducted; it was cold; a long walk; and a lot of work building a blind with arrow weed, and setting decoys. But the end result was so gratifying, and made me smile just like that.
I still use that Scotch call combined with a mouth call, and it still turns them flyers. The rubber bellow is a bit crackled, but still performs 50 years later. Now go get on those geese! I could hardly lift my first.
