Is there a diff between Navy beans and white beans?

Navy, Great Northern, & Cannellini beans are all called white beans by most folks in the South. IMO they all taste the same.

Heard some call pinto beans red beans, It's my understanding they aren't the same.Be glad when first cool comes thru so we can have some BEANS!!!

Two different beans. Red beans are Kidney Beans.

Have had a lot of pinto beans in my 80 years and we always called them red beans. Kidney beans are red and can do without them, love me some Lima beans and ham hock.

Interesting. I've never heard of pinto beans being called red beans anywhere in the South. Red beans (especially in Louisiana) are always kidney beans (I don't care for them). Learn something new every day.

Lima beans (butter beans here) are a staple in my casa and we love them, especially with chunks of boneless smoked ham hocks.

This^^^^ Beans of any kind with smoked ham hocks! Soaking some pinto tonight to cook tomorrow with some Hatch Green Chilies Sausage!!
