hey yall i have some old duck decoys that are in some need of new paint, not just touch up i am thinking about changing color scheme what type of paint do i get. ive seen stuff saying satin, no gloss, matte finish. if yall have any experince with a brand you like pls let me know thank you.

Whenever I would touch up I would use krylon flat black and white.

Knutsons sells paint kits and individual cans made by "parker paint". I have bought the small individual cans before to repaint heads on old mallard decoys to brighten them up and to add teal shoulders to mallard hens thus turning them into magnum teal decoys.

Brush. Better coverage and seems to stick better. Make sure you clean decoy good before applying.

I would highly suggest using roofing tar. I mix gas with the roofing tar using a drill-mounted mixer and then let it sit in the sun to let it liquefy more. Paint it thick and let it dry in the sun for 3-4 days..... It holds up very well and is a very flat black, even on sunny days. A 3-gallon pale covered right around 12-14 dozen decoys. Wear clothes you don't plan on using again and if you are doing it on a driveway...lay down a tarp.

I've repainted some duck decoys before. I recommend matte finish paint as it looks more natural. Brands like Krylon or Rust-Oleum work well.
