I'm currently running a Super Yoter. If I was in the market for an upgrade is anything comparable or better near the same ball park? I have a buddy interested in buying mine

A friend said something about Rico's

Better than Super Yoter . . .

The Super Yoter LRF is better - in more ways than one

Other scopes

Ricos are so 2022 - you’ll want to look at

Infiray Outdoors Hybrid

Or

Bolt TH50-C version 2 (V2)

Keep in mind that aside from different features, you really won't see a huge difference until you move up to 1280 resolution (and a huge price tag). Going with an LRF on a current model 640 scope would be one of the biggest improvements you could make without mortgaging your house.

Most of the current 'good' scopes are going to have very similar thermal features, though with some variation. They are going to be 640 resolution, generally 50 Hz or more, 12 micron, NETD <20-40mK (smaller is better) sensitivity, etc. There may be some slight variations and different tweaks in image quality between brands and models. Where I am going with this is that for the basic thermal part of the package, your move won't be so much upwards as it would be lateral. However, if you have the 18k burning a hole in your pocket, get the 1280 resolution Infiray Rico RS75.

You might want to go with one of the dual optic options such as Pulsar has. The Thermion Duo combines thermal with daylight viewing so that you can hunt daytime just fine and when it gets dark, switch to thermal on the same scope.

When sightmark dropped their thermal in the exact same housing as their DNV I wondered when the options to have both features in one would be available. Once they get that figured out in an even smaller package that seems like it make be the real future for most manufactures.

Get the LRF...I thought it was gimicky, now I wouldn't consider replacing mine unless the next one had that capability too.

The only reason I wouldn't go LRF, is if you always use it sitting in a blind.

If you want to keep the higher base magnification and you want to see a big image quality jump there's one affordable choice, the InfiRay Outdoor Bolt TH50-C V2. 3.5x base mag and the image is amazing. Huge display screen, rounded on the left/right edges and it's the best 3x (actually 3.5x) image quality you're going to get under N-Vision right now.

Can you easily explain why the display is so much better?

It’s physically larger

The pixels are closer together on the display so you’re actually able to zero the scope more precisely (it’s all 1’s and 0’s)

And the higher resolution speaks for itself

I don’t sell these things but I try to live behind them as often as I can

If I had unlimited funds I’d own the TH50c V2 tomorrow

I have both the Super Hogser and Super Yoter, and had planned to purchase the Super Yoter LRF when available.

Next thermal I purchase for use as a dedicated scope will have an LRF.

Any idea when the compatible LRF will be available for the TH50c V2 and a ball park price estimation?

Yes sir, it's the resolution and physical size. It looks huge inside the eyepiece and the resolution of the display is 2560x2560 which is insane. Most thermals have display resolutions around 1024x768. It definitely makes for a good user experience.

No firm ETA on the availability right now. We were told a few weeks ago the FDA approved them and they were incoming soon but we haven't had an update. The price on the LRF unit will be $799.
