Just trying to get an estimated age on this deer. They all seem small bodied and we are new to hunting the hill country of TX. The buzzards beat me to him, so he is a little ugly. Damn, they are efficient. thank you!

Difficult to say after all he’s been through. When they are standing it’s easier to get a better idea of age.

Welcome to our forum. I doubt anyone can help you much from a pic like that. May have more luck posting a pic of his teeth to help age.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH

The head of that deer shows age, I'll conservatively say 5+

I agree with freerange, hard to tell anything from that pic. Teeth could possibly help get within a couple years range

I would say older than 4. He is not an immature buck. I came to the hill country after hunting south Texas for 20+ years and I am usually 1 year, sometimes 2 years off on aging bucks…Hill country deer look younger than they are in most cases. Have to look at more subtle thing to get an age you usually wouldn’t have to down south.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
