Bow hunting public land. Have confidence to 60 yards, but obviously would love to be closer. How do you zero in on the best place to set up? I am getting in the game late, and this is my first season. Did not do any post season scouting last year, will this year. I have seen some deer movement, and bumped several deer. Having a hard time zeroing on on being within bow range. Do you set up cameras to determine where they tend to pass through or hang out. The area is pretty flat, just small creeks. It seems like they travel with the creeks at times. I see lots of game trails, but unsure if they are hogs or deer.

If you can get up in a tree I will get very close to a game trail….10-12 yards.

60 yards on a whitetail is way too long a shot for me and I’ve been bowhunting a long time. 20-25 yards is about as far as I want to shoot a deer. 15-20 is much better.

Set up just off the trail and see what comes by

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Don't forget to use calls!!! Before you use one look around good first...if it is clear..use them.

Set up where creek beds and game trails intersect. I agree with the above to set up about 15 yards off the trail, should keep you comfortable to about 30 yards.
