Shot in the dark cuz these guns are fairly new. Shot a box thru it mid sept without any issues. I ddint want to go thru all my shells before a weekend hunt we had this past weekend. Shooting Winchester XX 7 1/2's. Started out fine, but a half a box thru, the bolt was not closing all the way allowing the gun to shoot. Very frustrating after a while. It didnt happen every time, but enough to where I was having to check it to make sure it fed the shell all the way in. Sometimes I would have to shove bolt in more. Some time I could rattle off 3 shots with no issue. There never was a rhyme or reason as to why it wouldnt close shut all the way, or when. I was pissed and put it on the shelf for the rest of the weekend. Any ideas other than send it back to Benelli? Brand new gun. I had no other 28's to try to feed thru it.

Sounds like it needs cleaned, that’s where I’d start anyway.

Intermittent after the first shot, or not closing after loading and not firing on first shot?

If former, it’s an inertia driven system. If you aren’t shouldering the gun properly on your first shot the bolt isn’t going to close after the shot. I’ve seen this a lot with Benelli’s when the hunter gets excited during the heat of the hunt and is pulling the trigger while bring the gun up to shoulder and the gun isn’t solidly against the shoulder to drive the inertia system.

If the latter like Judd me mentioned, strip the gun completely down and clean it.

My 12 gauge SBE would do the same thing when it needed cleaned and lubed. I’d be willing to bet a deep clean and relube will fix you up.

That very could be me getting excited in the heat of battle and not shouldering good. SBE 12 has never done that to me. Birds were crazy at times. I will clean it good. Hopefully it was just me not shouldering good enough

up I've got one and never had a problem, but I clean all the packing grease out of my Benelli's straight out of the box. Also, if cleaning doesn't work you might try running a box of heavy loads thru it to break the recoil spring in. Sometimes those are stiff from the factory and do not like to cycle light loads out of the box.

If you decide you don't like it, I'm a buyer @ $500. grin

I have cleaned it but have no place to shoot it without going to jail. LOL. I'll have to wait until I get to deer lease in a couple weeks.

The reserve on the gun has not been met as of yet. smile
