I sat in one of our rifle blinds, and my target Buck was at the feeder at first light. Within 15 or 20 minutes, he slipped off into the woods. Also say a few does and two other bucks. He's coming before the sun comes up. I'll be out there in the stand early tomorrow for sure.

X2 Want to see pics of your or your Son's hands on him tomorrow Boy won't be down until Oct 7th. Hope I get this buck before he gets here. That damn boy is spoiled! He's got almost as many bucks on the wall at 15 as I do at 50!

Setting a rut stand right now. One of those big heavy 500 pound capacity game winner stands. I had to take a break. Screw this thing, by the way. Once i get it set it aint moving.

You said you sat in rifle blind. Sounds like a good idea. Does anybody else hesitate to sit at bow range(outside season) for fear of deer detecting the disturbance to a detriment for future?

She asked what i wanted for christmas, I asked for a climber. She thought this would be safer lol. I set it about a click away from the nearest road, a road that is usually closed this time of year for waterfowl season. Lots of pools here for the ducks. Thick woods heavy brush. Nothing but regret as soon as i got to the treeline with this damn thing. But maybe it will be my lucky stand. After all the commotion just to hsng it i think i will have to leave it be for a couple of weeks at least.

2 deer blew at me and ran off when I walked in at 5:45 this morning. Haven't seen anything since. Anyone else doing better?

No. Wr are there working on a regular basis. They are familiar with our scent. Passthru, I dont follow your posts much but from what I can tell you are a very experienced and likely very good bow hunter. So, with all due respect, Im confused by your comment on scent. It sounds like you are saying the deer in your area are "familiar" with your scent so they are not alarmed when they smell you?

It sounds like you are saying the deer in your area are "familiar" with your scent so they are not alarmed when they smell you? It can happen if you are around them enough without harming them. Much like city deer get. I have had deer come out and eat range cubes as I was spreading them out for cows. Deer watching me fill feeders one doe would come over within 10 feet wanting her corn as I was filling a feeder. A cousins place in the Summer deer come out sometimes eating peas from the garden while they were picking peas. She can go out with 6 does out within 100 yards from the house and hang cloths on the cloths line. I was hunting at the same place years ago about 200 yards behind the house and shot a coyote. Walked back to the house about sundown, was helping my aunt take the cloths off the line, nice 8pt walked out got a drink, she said shoot him if you want so I did. Does would have fawns close to the house and her little dogs and the fawns and dogs had fun chasing each other around the yard. that place is 4 miles from town. If you are around deer enough without harming them they will adjust to you. Just remembered one year on the place I hunted when I drove up to one feeder ran a bachelor group of 5 bucks from their bed 30 yards from the feeder. 3 came back out in the edge of the trees about 60 yards off down wind of me watching me fill the feeder, all 5 were eating corn within 5 minutes of me driving off. Got the target buck from that group November 9th after watching him mount a doe twice about 699 yards from that feeder location.

Kmon, I pretty much agree with that. However, just cause SOME deer act that way doesnt mean that ALL deer will act that way.

I'm just saying the scent where we walked in or were doesn't bother them as in turning inside out and heading to the next county. We sit our bow stands for pigs between seasons as well. Now while on stand you can get busted. Scent saturation levels vary. Think of it this way. A criminal with a shotgun a hundred yards away is less alarming than one in your bedroom. We sit in sealed up Krivoman blinds. If you keep the windows and vents shut little to no scent escapes. That helps a lot.

I think it can be different depending on location, pressure, local deer behavior, weather, and so on. I have hunted a single buck in Oklahoma where I scouted and jumped it off a bed, then watched it a few mornings walk under my portable tree stand, then kill it opening morning where I watched it the morning before.
The lease where I am at right now, it is common to be in stand and watch a doe cross the path I just walked in on bare ground with rubber boots. Stop and smell that ground, then blow out every deer around me. And none of them come back the next day.
