Toady a 4 year old that had a special litter in May ran in a trial today. She is a special little gal and has had her share of bad luck. Today in the Colorado OSD Classic she ran a good hour with three good finds and with just minutes to go she stood her 4th find. Birds right in front and a nice wild covey flew and she hopped forward . Judges didn't ask for her to be picked up but couldn't use her. Dog that won had 2 finds. No cigar but a real nice hour. If it isn't a bad draw, bad weather, or a young dog acting a fool, well it's always something. Ok I fell some better.

I feel for you sir. I had a hard luck dog myself. Always in the last few minutes.... armadillo once or twice and birds too close for him to resist. Better luck next run and yeah.... sometimes they have it won and you pray they do not have another find. LOL

Chet, Toady must be pretty nice. Expect regression in your dogs training at some time. Be patient and work through it. She obviously has the run and and nose to win. From my perspective, that is more dog than many are ever blessed to own.

When I was a boy learning about quail hunting and bird dogs from my grandpa he told me “Never brag on your shooting or your dog. Either one can blow up when you least expect it.”

No regression, she's 4 and a young shooting dog. Bird work is like throwing a forward pass several things can happen and only one is good and several are bad. She had a great bird finding summer up north and seems to be keeping it going this fall. Proud of her for sure.

Thanks bud, every week is an adventure. She finished her hour at the Fleetwood this week with one clean find but they had several 2 find dogs. So on to the to the Lonestar OSD Classic.

I made a trip to Canyon to look at this dog, and I ended up bringing her home. She’s gonna make a great addition to my small string of pointers.

By the way, we hunted just east of Dickens this afternoon and there are plenty of bird this year!

RustB. You got Toady!!! I nearly bought a Toady pup from Chet, but ended up getting my setter. And yes, with your dogs pedigrees, Toady will be awesome. Toady was one of his favorites.
