Looking for new in-ear protection. Anyone have any favorites or ones to stay away from? Was looking at the axil, lots of mixed reviews

Surefire makes a great set of earplugs, and they're less that $15 for a set.

MSA w/ gelcups...I'd tried a bunch and nothing compares. Peltor w/ gelcups are close

For hunting...a suppressor is the best ear protection and then I don't wear anything.

I have axil, they are ok for lighter report and shot guns. Step up to a braked magnum, best to add Walkers Razor or Pro ear electronic muff.

I’m happy with Walkers. A charge lasts a long time and I’m now accustomed to hearing sounds you can’t hear without them.

I use EAR Inc. in the ear protection. They are on the expensive side but worth it. You can carry on a conversation and they shut off the report of a firearm. They also don't interfere with cheek weld when shooting.

that's been my problem with over-the-ear, the cheek weld.

I was fitted for a pair that were made from an impression of my ear. They're not electronic, but do have an internal device that closes from pressure of sound before it reaches your inner ear. They work great, a company is at DSCC every year. About $125.00, fit great, don't interfere with cheek weld, you can still hear sounds but greatly limit what you would be exposed to. I fought wearing hearing protection while hunting, I wanted all my senses and the Walker muffs screwed with my cheek weld. With my 7mm Rem. Mag and brake, I had to have something.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Walkers hands down. The new deceptors are similar to air pods. They are the best pair of ear pro I’ve owned. Well worth the money.

I use Walker’s Raptor Bone Conduction as hearing amplification. Then I stuff foam expandables into my ear up to my brain. Works great.
