We grow some Cascade and Centennial hops on our back fence here in town. Our oldest rhizomes are about 25 years, the Centennials only about 4 years now, maybe 3.
Our friends brewery uses them every Fall in a beer, 2 this year.
He put the Centennials in his honey amber ale- dry hopped them, said they smelled wonderful.
The Cascades will go into a Pale Ale of sorts.

I sent a sample off for brewers quality testing to see how they compare to commercially grown hops, not expecting same quality but close. The brewer will also have a better idea of values for bittering his beer.

Harvest is complete, they are dried and as soon as my big bags get here will be bagged up for use in about a week or 2. I think we hand harvested about half or less of our total growth, just too many to use.

The amber, honey ale our Centennials went into gets kegged this week, should be on tap next weekend.
I have 3 lbs of dried Cascade cones ready for his pale ale in about 2 weeks or so.
My test results on the Cascades should be in early next week .

So that’s what hops look like. Cool pics.

I used a bunch of Cascade hops back when I was really into home brewing. Nothing like a good home brewed ale in a frosted mug.
