I am 0/20 years.
I put in for Chaparral and Mule Deer hunts with the occasional exotic etc.
But I have ZERO draws in 20 years.

Got Brazos Bend finally, antlerless. And also Trinity NWR McGuire General Deer so that'll go nice with my upland hunt over there earlier. Got the USFS antlerless tag too. Gonna try to make the most these hunts since who knows when I'll get drawn again. At minimum I'll get some good wildlife photography in but hopefully there'll be plenty of meat in the freezer too.

Drew a whitetail buck hunt at Neches River NWR. Anyone ever hunted that refuge? It's typical East Texas woods hunting. I would think a tree stand would be the best way to hunt. Find the trails and food and set up. The cool part is that area is typically open to the public so you can go scout. I believe they only close it when a hunt is in progress.

Middle child won his first hunt at possum kingdom. Appears to be an easy hunt in the park, youth only. May try to stay in the cabins. Not finding much on prior hunts/success though. Hopefully it’s not like Fairfield where they cleaned the park out in the early years

But I have ZERO draws in 20 years. Stick with those impossible to draw hunts. With 20+ points in each being cubed, the increase compounds quite a bit each year. You should draw a good one or two eventually and make it all worth it. Your going into those hunts with over 8000 points each now. 5 more years it is over 15000 points each. Another two years, over 19000 points. That is what got me the powderhorn sambar. I actually skipped some draws this round because I got more hunting to do already than I have time for and don't want to risk losing my double digit points.
