Invited to my first teal hunt. My shotgun has the capacity for 3.5” shells

What do you guys use for shot size? And do you bother getting 3.5” shells if you have the capacity or stick with 2.75” or 3”? Thoughts?

Please advise.

Thanks!

I picked up a box of hevishit teal steel #6 - that stuff is crap.

I really like Kent fast steel #3 for everything

I like 3" #5 steel for them. They pattern well in my gun and I have had good success with them.

I shoot 3” #4 for all small and medium ducks, mainly because I don’t want to have 10 different cases of shotgun ammo sitting around.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Haven’t been in several years but mostly used low brass #6 steel 12 ga 2 3/4”. They were less than $10 per box. They are pretty easy to kill at decoy range, hitting them is challenging.

I started with low brass 6's (winchester) 2 3/4 with a 4 shot 3" kicker but after first day use nothing but the low brass 2 3/4 #6 shot... they have worked great some pics of Bonnie with birds. she likes getting two at once this year. Big stack was from opening day. Lissie, TX area

I'd buy the cheapest shells you can find. 3.5", 3" or 2 3/4" , 1 oz, 1.25oz, 1.5oz. 1300fps, 1500 fps. or anything in between. 12g, 20g, 16g....hell 410.

BUY THE CHEAPEST SHELLS YOU CAN FIND FOR TEAL, NO MATTER THE BRAND

Thanks for all your help, everyone! I grabbed some Kent 6 shot, 3" (it's all they had close to what I was looking for) and they did the trick! Limited out!
