I have my pins set at 20 and 30 yards. For a target at 25 yards do you take the bullseye and put it in the middle between the two pins? Or do you still aim with one pin and aim either high or low depending on which one you select?

I set mine up a little different. I use a 5 pin sight. I set the middle pin in the center and i back the rest of the pins out so that each pin is about the same distance apart, as closely together as I can comfortably look at and use them. Then i zero the top pin at 20 yards, and the rest of my pins I determine what the setting is by walking back and shooting.

The useful range for each pin overlaps so that each pin is useable out to the same distance as the nearest and furthest pin.

By setting my sight up this way I have a lot more forgiveness in my range estimation. And pretty much, inside 40 yards all three of my useable pins fit on a deer. So out to 40 I have extreme confidence.

So I really don’t have to use the gap but I still try to use it to remove as much error as possible. You’re gonna have to shoot your bow to learn your gap.

I am not saying this is the right way, it’s just how i do it.

I do shoot a pretty fast bow though.

I will bracket the bullseye between two pins. Shot this way for years and prefer to do it rather than holdover a pin.

Just have to find out which you prefer.

It's easier for my pea brain to put the pin on a picked and focused spot so I pull up, see wherebthe pin above or below sits with it split on the aim point then use the spot of either pin to focus that pin on to shoot.

Target between the pins. Base where between the pins on the yardage between the pins and the distance to the target. For instance: if your first pin is 20 yards and the second pin is 30 yards. You have a ten yard interval. If distance is 25 hold dead between. If distance is 28 hold the twenty yard pin plus 80 percent of the 30. (or 20 percent above the 30). With just a little bit of practice, you will do it subconsciously. When you look at your pins they map your trajectory. Insert the target at the appropriate place in the trajectory for the range of your target. Using your pins in this manner when shooting through tight windows you can see where your arrow will be at any given distance between you and the target. Knowing if your arrow will clear obstructions if your range estimation skills are up to it ups your game considerably.

I will hold between the pins. I run a 3 pin set up, where my top (30 yard) and bottom pin (50 yard) are vertical, and my mid pin (40 yard) is horizontal. I set up the top pin at 30, middle at 40 and bottom pin at 50. I have a silver mark on the bottom pin for 60 yards, and a silver mark on the top pin for 20 yards. I'll practice a little at 20 yards, but mainly at 30 yards. The difference between the 20 and 30 yard pins are very close, so I generally just hold low with the 30 yard pin for 20 yards. I'll hold in the middle of the pins for a 25 or 35 yard shot.
