So we are three weeks out from the Texas opener of the best season. A weeknout from Missouri. Some folks have flat out been in the stands already. I realize it's been hot but whatbis going on??? Let's see trail cam pics, blind and stand pics, plans and excitement stuff. Wth people!!! Let's get it started in here!!!

Big issue is the site is so slow that few will take the time to struggle with going nowhere. Takes too much time to do too little.

What’s got it so slow?

Only deer I have had on pics so far is a few small bucks and does with young ones so far. Wife tore her knee up and had surgery Aug 4 and I have rotator cuff surgery scheduled next Thursday. About a 60% tare on the left shoulder and more fraying to be repaired. In Mississippi where we are now there is a velvet buck season for 3 days this month the 15, 16 and 17. Would not be surprised if the wife shoots one of the small bucks then. Neighbor said he would help if we need it with one.

My bow season will not be much this year but oh well. It is what it is.

I hunt public ground in Missouri and trail cams are now forbidden on the public here. But there is definitely a swamp donkey I have been trying to monitor. I heard about another one in another spot too, from a very reliable source i might add. I can’t wait.

Haven't seen any whitetail bucks that are ready to be taken on my place and our cameras are giving us issues where we hunt mule deer. May just have to go in blind. I'm also giving some serious thought to hunting some public this year. It would be cool to go back where I got my first buck.

Not gonna lie, the slow speed of the site is keeping me off. Its darn near unusable from my iphone or ipad and operates at glacial speeds on my desktop, hopefully it gets fixed soon.


That said, I am going to start prepping for season this week and next...hopefully we get some better weather, its so hot its hard to get motivated to do much. All I lack is a popup blind and getting two feeders going, so that should be easy to knock out. I also have access to hunt another property about an hour north of my place so I hope to take advantage of that, they have archery stands set up but its better suited for a compound bow, I prefer to hunt with a trad bow for whitetail so we will see how that plays out.


Here are a few I have seen on my place that make the shooter list, I'll prolly let me kids have first crack at them and then come in and bat clean up towards the end of the season if they are unsuccesful.

There is no limit on archery antlerless tags here. I am targeting does. If i can kill that old silver nanny i can kill anything.

My mentor told me it’s a waste of time trying. He told me the old nsnny does are some of the hardest deer to kill, but even the most wary bucks make mistakes during the rut.

I swear she hunts me. I know her by her wheez lol.

I am convinced that an adult doe is the wariest creature in the whitetail woods.

I am fortunate to hunt in an area that has a good buck population and many mature bucks, and a 6 year old buck isn't anywhere near as wary as a 6 year old doe.

No shooters on camera so far, but I got a nice up and comer I'm estimating at 3.5 yo.
