Same exact day as last year. 70% of bucks on cam this morning were hard-horned.

Seems early , but guess not if it happened last year at this time. Not sure about my lease but they are still in velvet in Parker county.

We are still all in velvet around here. I suspect that will change in the next week or so.
Down South we would still see bucks in velvet in mid september.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Drought has really stressed them two years in a row, I wonder if that factors. Had to start haying cattle last week. There’s not much to eat. I had 19 deer in one pic at one of my feeders the other morning. Mills county.

Not a lot of green left on the landscape

Still velvet here but I always say Labor Day and it’s always close.

All the boys are still in velvet here but I saw this first evidence of change this evening. Just before dark, three bucks were feeding below the house but I noticed a fourth shadow back in some mesquites...it was one of the larger boys and he was tentatively starting to rub. I expect the others to follow suit rapidly.

1st pic for me as well, the 26th. The deer with his head down you can see his velvet is nearly white, he will be hard horned soon.
