We just got onto a new lease and its definatly being over ran by hogs. We jumped a group of about 20 of them today.Question I have is, if theres an overwelming population of hogs on a property will it ruin the amount of deer we'll see during season or will it have no effect on it?

thanks guys...

Hogs aint good for buisness!

Two years ago I had a stand I called the "cliff stand"! It was my best stand by far, but last year the hogs moved into this area and I never saw a deer at that feeder all year long! If the same thing plays out again this year I am going to move it out of there and put it somewhere else!

You will still see deer, but hogs and deer are not real cozy with one another!

I agree with JCB....seems like when getting pics on the game cam, when there are hogs, there are fewer deer...

I saw 3 hogs try to take a deer at a feeder once. They didn't stand a chance but it shows they will try. If they try, they'll "giterdun" sooner or later.

it will affect your deer some. the best thing is to kill everyone you can. put up a trap before and after season and declare war on the hogs. my uncle hunts in cass cty east texas and the hogs are destroying the feeders. he went to his lease last week and 4 of 9 feeders are destroyed by the hogs. he put up a trail cam and had 292 photos only 2 had deer. good luck!

hogs and deer dont go together.. infact, deer dont hang out with many other animals besides deer. hogs can ruin a deer hutn....but it still fun to shoot those bastages!

Its not a total loss. Look at it this way...There are no limits on hogs and the meat is fantastic. Load up the freezers with some nice lean pork this year.

that would be me...but dont tell no one..ha! dont wont to be considered a trader..LOL

but definatly a hunter at heart.

and im not complaining at all. i live in the college station area and the deer here have no size at all to them..unless your "one of those guys" who hunt high fences...so its all about meat

From my experience, they won't be at the feeder at the same time - and deer will certainly leave as soon as the hogs come. However, deer definitely do frequent my same feeders just moments after the hogs are gone.

Also from my experience (again) once you shoot at hogs a few times during the daylight - they will go nocturnal for awhile leaving the shooting hours free for the deer.

This is just from my experience the last couple of years as I most definitely have both hogs and deer frequenting my feeders just not at the same time.

If I had my way though I would definitely prefer the hogs gone smile

Earl
